The things people ask before their first box.
Getting started
Is the Indian address real?
Yes. It is our licensed fulfilment centre in HSR Layout, Bengaluru, with your own suite number appended. Every Indian courier delivers to it.
Does it cost anything to sign up?
No. The address, intake, photos, 30 days of storage, consolidation and repacking are all free. You pay only for the shipment itself.
Can I use my own card on Indian sites?
If the site accepts it, yes. Many do not, or fail at the OTP step. That is what the personal shopper service exists for.
Weight and pricing
What is volumetric weight?
Airlines charge for space as well as mass. Volumetric weight is length × width × height in cm divided by 5000 (6000 on our economy lane). You are billed on whichever is higher — actual or volumetric.
How does consolidation actually save money?
Couriers price the first half kilogram far above every additional half kilogram. Five parcels shipped separately pay that opening premium five times. One box pays it once.
Why did my quote change after intake?
Quotes before arrival use the seller's stated weight. Once we weigh and measure the real parcel, the number becomes exact.
Duties, taxes and customs
Who pays import duty?
You do, to your own customs authority, usually collected by the delivering courier. We estimate it up front so it is not a surprise.
Can you under-declare the value?
No. Under-declaration is the leading cause of seizure and can void insurance. We declare what you actually paid.
What is de-minimis?
The value below which a destination charges no duty. It is $800 into the US and roughly $165 into the EU — which is why the same box can be duty-free to one country and taxed into another.
What cannot ship
Prohibited outright
Currency, precious metals in bullion form, firearms and parts, narcotics, live plants and animals, flammable liquids, aerosols above permitted volumes, and anything counterfeit.
Restricted but shippable
Lithium batteries (air lanes only, with dangerous-goods filing), perfumes and alcohol-based cosmetics (volume-capped), sealed non-perishable food (blocked into Australia and New Zealand), and jewellery (insured and documented).
Homemade food and sweets
Commercially sealed and labelled is fine to most destinations. Homemade, unlabelled or perishable items are frequently destroyed at the border and we will tell you before you pay.
Medicine
Can you send my prescription anywhere?
No, and anyone who says yes is going to lose your parcel. Germany, Ireland and the rest of the EU prohibit personal prescription imports from outside the EEA. Australia and the UAE are straightforward. The US and UK are conditional. Our checker gives you a verdict for your exact case before you pay.
What is the 90-day rule?
The FDA generally exercises enforcement discretion for up to a 90-day supply of a drug for personal use, for a serious condition where no adequate US treatment exists. It is discretion, not a right, and it was never intended as a route to cheaper medicine. Australia, the UAE, Canada and New Zealand run comparable three-month allowances.
Will you ship painkillers or sleeping tablets?
No. Opioids, benzodiazepines, stimulants, anabolic steroids and anything on Schedule X are refused on every lane to every country, with or without a prescription. This is not a policy we make exceptions to.
Who actually dispenses the medicine?
A licensed partner pharmacy in Bengaluru, against a prescription we have verified with the prescriber’s registration body. Sealed manufacturer packs only — nothing is decanted or repackaged.
Are Indian generics the same drug?
The molecule and strength are identical and India supplies a large share of the world’s generics, including to regulated markets. Manufacturing standards vary by plant, which is why we dispense from WHO-GMP facilities and can show you the batch certificate of analysis.
Festival gifting
What is an order-by date?
The last day you can place an order and still have it arrive before the festival. We compute it from transit time to your zone plus a customs buffer, so it is earlier than a naive delivery estimate would suggest.
Can I send homemade sweets?
Commercially sealed and labelled sweets are fine to most destinations. Homemade, unlabelled, khoya-based or otherwise perishable items are regularly destroyed by biosecurity, particularly into Australia, New Zealand and the US. We will tell you before you pay.
Why can I not send Holi colours?
Synthetic gulal is an unclassified chemical powder as far as customs is concerned and gets destroyed. Lab-certified herbal gulal clears, and that is what our Holi hamper contains.
What if I miss the cut-off?
Express is usually still possible but the guarantee falls away. We will say plainly whether it can still make the date rather than take the order and hope.
Sourcing, export and import
Do suppliers pay you for ranking?
No. We charge you a sourcing fee and take no commission from factories, which is why the match score is broken into line items you can argue with rather than presented as a black box.
Do I need an IEC to export from India?
Yes, an Importer Exporter Code from DGFT. It is a one-time registration and we file it for you if you do not have one.
When does sea freight beat air?
Roughly above 300 kg air stops being competitive, and above about 8 CBM a full container usually beats LCL. The lane matrix on the export page shows the crossover for each destination.
How is Indian import duty calculated?
It compounds. Basic Customs Duty on the assessable value, a 10% social welfare surcharge on the BCD, then IGST on the whole lot. A classification error of ten percentage points costs considerably more than ten percent.
What is demurrage and how do I avoid it?
Port storage charges that begin once your free days expire. The fix is filing the Bill of Entry the moment the manifest appears rather than when the vessel berths, which is what we do.
Support
How do I reach a human?
The concierge in your dashboard escalates to our Bengaluru team during Indian business hours, and there is a reply within one working day at any time.
What if something arrives damaged?
Intake photos are timestamped. If damage predates us, raise it with the seller using our photos as evidence. If it happened in our care, we cover it.
Can I get a refund on a shipment?
Before dispatch, yes, in full to your wallet. After dispatch, carrier terms apply and insured value is claimable.
